Carnival prizes by tier: small, medium and large
Carnival games run on prize tiers: lots of cheap small prizes that almost every player wins, fewer medium prizes, and a handful of large 'flash' prizes on display; players trade small prizes up, so most of your stock by count is the small tier.
The three tiers
- Small — the everyday win: mini squishies, rubber ducks, bouncy balls, keychains, small fidgets
- Medium — the trade-up: squishies, small plush, novelty toys
- Large / flash — the display prize that draws the crowd: big plush, bought in small numbers
Sizing the order
Work back from expected plays. If a game sells a few hundred plays a day and most players win a small prize, the small tier needs hundreds of units per day of operation; the medium tier a fraction of that; the flash tier only enough to keep the display full.
On ToysinBulk the small tier is the under-$2 range (over 1,200 items) and the new arrivals; squishies (median $3.99) cover the medium tier; plush (median $6.99, up to premium sizes) covers medium and large.
